Do you allow takebacks?

http://strawpoll.me/5701140

I haven't disabled it here, because I need it sometimes. I've made 4 misclicks in about 200 games, and usually they decline even if I tell them it was honest misclick/error. I've even been declined a few times with an obvious castling misclick. Fuckers!

On FICS, after a while I changed an option to disallow takebacks, now I'm probably going to do it here too.

There's a pattern. When I give the takeback, they win. If I don't, I win. When I see someone ask for a takeback all I see is, "Can I get free points from you?"

I feel like it happens in 25% of all my games. And almost everytime I decline, they are butthurt and I feel bad. They start childish behavior like text spamming, or offer draw 100x, and let time run down---a troll!

What is wrong with people? If you're higher rated than me, don't ask for a takeback b/c you found a better move!

The reason I used to always give takebacks is because it makes you better. Play out the game and learn, instead of win/points.

TL;DR: I hate human nature/condition/greed.

No, if you are careful enough, you shouldn't be making mouseslips. If you want to move fast, it's a tradeoff of speed and accuracy. The decrease in accuracy is part of the price you pay for speed, so you shouldn't just get that price wiped away for free like that.

Mouseslips can be avoided by click and click moving rather than click and drag moving, if you are also careful when doing so. On telnet based servers like FICS and ICC, you can even type your moves and not hit enter until you've double-checked it.

I do not give or request takebacks. To me it's a matter of respect. Don't put your opponent in the position of having to decide if he should give a takeback by being careful and never requesting an eraser for your mistakes. I like to encourage my opponents to have the same respect for me by not accepting takeback requests.

So?
Playing quickly and then slipping is part of playing chess in lower time controls. Avoiding it, or playing around opening tactics that build on premoving is advised.
The poll is silly because there isn't a "no" option.

I never give, or ask for, takebacks.
Asking for takebacks consistently appears to be somewhat cheap, in my opinion. The only condition when I personally find takebacks to be appropriate is if these are intended to not spoil some good classical game. For instance, this may be the case when players had perhaps invested relatively more time and thought into their play and accidental breaking up of the position seems to ruin the whole process. Otherwise, say, in bullet games, misclicks should be generally perceived as bad luck which somewhat evenly hits every player, unless agreed by the players under some specific circumstances.
I allow takebacks when it's an obvious mouseslip or other technical issue. For example white wants to exchange queens with Qd1 x Qd8 but the queen stops on d7, so it would be 0:1 immediately. Here I believe my opponent that he really didn't intend do play this. I can't understand people who don't allow this. The game is destroyed, all they win is a few rating points, but they lose the opportunity to play an interesting game and in my case they lose a playing partner with whom they could have played and learned for many games. On the other hand, taking back a bad move is just ridiculous. When I play blitz, after almost every move I think that I could have done better. Here I consider it very impolite to ask. I block such players immediately. In bullet you should never ask at all.
I'm done giving them out. I've lost three games do to the take back/take back procedure because I lose a lot of time. Also, I gave one guy a take back one game, and the next game he refused on an obvious mouse slip (stopped short of taking a piece only to lose my queen). So, people are generally really shitty about it and unsportsmanlike.
It is silly to have a strong conviction.

It depends on the circumstances.
