one scenario where i think take backs, or at least move confirmation should be had (i realize that this may not be feasible especially in blitz or bullet games) when castling.
every once in a while, i will mistakenly castle, or castle on the wrong side because i clicked on the rook but then change my mind and move my king or some variation of that.
in other words, there's a two-part move to castle, and when i complete part one, there's no way to know except deselect it by clicking anywhere on the board?
maybe hi light it with a different color so you know that castling is enabled? that would avoid take backs in this situation.
