GM Wesley_So Closing Account (Comments)

I'm trying to find Wesley on chess.com, but I can't find him? He isn't on the page chess.com/member/wesley_so, it just says that the account has been closed. I guess maybe he encountered cheaters...

I guess that chess.com takes some kind of partnership with FIDE.

in the last month, chess.com IS FULL OF CHAMPIONS...
Every day you can see play Nakamura, Wesley So, Lagrave, Grischuk and Aronian and sometimes also Caruana appears.
And lot of hundreds titled players.

take a look to the Blitz scoreboard updated to today..... the first ten players....what amazing players !!! ("lionbeast" is Lagrave, Caruana is #12)

For the quality of the players, chess.com is incomparable at this moment.

i love lichess, but I have a premium account also in chess.com, and in these last weeks i'm prefering the last one.

Yeah, chess.com has a much higher budget than lichess, so they can pay a lot of titled players.
Lichess has an edge in the fact it is free.

If Wesley quit because of an exclusive contract with chess.com, it was very bad that he used cheaters as an excuse. A lot of times being a nice guy is just an act.

Anyway, I looked at his games on chess.com .
Almost all of them are against titled players. So, of course he didn't play against cheaters there.
On lichess he played most games against unknown people, so some cheaters were unavoidable.

exactly...in chess.com there are hundred titled players to play.....not unknown players like here.

for this reason they play there.

I read all posts in both topics related with closing account by GM Wesley So,his decision was interesting but confusing,I wonder what was the reason of Wesley's episode on lichess?

What and where is Tyler's opinion about it?
lichess is free,I agree with this,
I don't agree with Wesley's opinion about better lichess thanks payments etc,

I disagree with #10. Wesley So is 'famously' linked to the New Chess Site - which I think is part of why he has (loudly) moved from lichess. Of course I could be wrong - and only he knows the truth. The so-and-so :D (do you see what I did there?!)

#17 If by "what I did there" you refer to spreading rumors, it's quite easy in this case, and that's because of Wesley's rather illogical and clearly unexpected reaction.

it's widely accepted that icc has the strongest titled player pool. that said, chesscom is trying to lure top players with massive amounts of money, and i guess it's working..

No whining, even from GMs. Or maybe especially from GMs. A little bit of money can do the strangest things ... if anyone was to say chess.com had more of a handle on engine use I would ask how much they were being paid to say that.
