I am proposing an idea that can add variety and fun to the game.
What about implementing an oppurtunity that allows to play a chess match with 4 players, meaning that 2 players (of approximately equal level) are on each side. The players on each side take turns making moves. (All communication disabled).
I will explain the idea with an easy example:
Players on white side: Bob and Rick.
Players on black side: Sean and Ryan.
1. e4 by Bob e5 by Sean
Now instead of Bob, Rick gets to play the next move for white. Same goes for black, where the next move is played by Ryan instead of Sean.
2. Nf3 by Rick Nc6 by Ryan.
Third moves are now played by Bob and Sean again, and so on.
I think that this would be something truly amazing, because it would require players to try to understand the ideas behind their teammate's moves and combine strategies to lead their game to the ultimate victory.
This would also be a possible feature that would invite more players to Lichess, because it is currently not available at any online chess website.
If you would like to see this idea in action, played by world champions, go to: www.youtube.com/watch?v=aS2cehTjHvc&;
Let me know your opinions and thoughts on this!
