Queens gambit 2... Nf6

@Sybotes: @Dancing_Ulf pointed out that after 3.... g6 4. Qa4+ is quite annoying for black. I agree with him, i can't spot any chances to get equality for black here.

So why do think black has chances to equalize? There are 5 moves for black, none of them appeals to me.
If you would like to play a soon gambit there is the Albin 2... e5. It's risky and against a well prepared white player i think not a really good choice. But if white is not ready for it she can really run into serious problems.
I don't see that with 2... Nf6. If white has never seen this move before she can get a good positions with normal moves that mortals can spot on the board without any preparation.
The only small point worth knowing is that 1.d4 d5 2.c4 Nf6 3.cxd5 Nxd5 is best answered by 4.Nf3, delaying e4 for the moment . 4.e4 is not as precise, because 4...Nf6 5.Nc3 e5 is reasonable for Black.
#23, I have just looked at the score, something like 80% White with that imprecise e4…
The Marshall defense is unsound, Black has much better moves than 2...Nf6.

If you want to eliminate those boring lackluster Marshall defense games, you can change the move order e.g. starting with Nf3 or 1.d4 2.Nf3 3.c4. This move order avoids many non-mainstream defenses against Queen's gambit like Marshall/Benoni/Benko/Budapest/Albin/Baltic/Chigorin, so you can focus on practicing your favorite Queen's gambit or Catalan system. Things like the Baltic defense are not very sound so you have no reason to avoid them, except for narrowing down your repertoire.
Note that while 4.e4 is less precise than 4.Nf3 after 3...Nxd5, Black is not equalising. The computer line runs

1.d4 d5 2.c4 Nf6?! 3.cxd5 Nxd5 4.e4 Nf6 5.Nc3 e5 6.Nf3! exd4 7.Qxd4 Qxd4 8.Nxd4 Bc5 9.Ndb5 Na6 10.Bf4 O-O! (10...Bb6 11.f3 with annoying pressure against Black's queenside) 11.Bxc7! (11.Nxc7 Nxc7 12.Bxc7 Be6 with Rc8 to follow and strong compensation) Nxc7 (11...Be6 12.Bd6 allows White to exchange the annoying bishop) 12.Nxc7 Rb8 13.f3 Rd8 14.Rd1 Rxd1+ 15.Kxd1

If we take stock in the resulting position, White is up a healthy pawn. However, Black can count on drawing chances because the unopposed dark square bishop is somewhat annoying after the weaknesses induced by 13.f3. I claim Black's position is still rather unpleasant there.
Indeed, the 80% in White‘s favor are probably pretty close to the truth. (#26)
