Chinese Chess

Very far out thought, but maybe add Chinese Chess? It could be very popular....
I've played Xiangqi, and it's fun (though I'm terrible). I doubt it'll be added to this site though, because the board is so far removed from an ordinary FIDE chess board -- it'd be a major effort to code, and sadly, whilst people still clamor for crazy/bughouse, is unlikely to be added.
XiangQi is awesome, I would love to see this on Lichess, but it is probably problematic to implement here. Anyway, chinese chess is a lot of fun. =B^)

There's also Janggi, the Korean variation of XiangQi, which is even more dynamic than the original. Both of these are much more interesting than bughouse, imho.
I'd say it's its own game, not a chess variant.

Same goes for shogi (Japanese chess). I don't have much love for xiangqi but shogi is a masterpiece of game design. But it is a game in its own right, far removed from chess and and chess culture, with its own rating system, etc.
Could you have a separate page for both types? Like chess from around the world? Maybe don't add a rating system and just keep it casual.
I think it's out of scope for the project precisely because it is a whole different universe to the chess world. There are always more chess-related things to do on lichess.
