Where is the Scottish flag?

Random question: Why can't the Scottish flag be selected from the profile? Kind of odd.
For the same reason England, Wales and Northern Ireland aren't there either. Namely, none of them are countries, and they are all part of the UK, which is on the list.
Yikes, if I were from any of those countries I'd be pretty annoyed. May as well put all of Europe under the EU flag I guess ;-)

I only wanted the Scottish flag because I like playing the Scotch, so I'll live.
None of them are countries though. Are you annoyed that the flag of whatever USA state you are from isn't there?

Why did Scotland have a vote last year on independence? Because they are not an independant country right now.
I cannot speak for them, but I'd imagine if you asked someone from England if they see themselves as "English" or "United Kingdom..ish" they'd say the former.

Just saying. I really don't care, but they probably do.
@Silky: Yes, you're right about that, but it all depends on context, there certainly exists though a "British" culture that transcends the borders between England, Scotland and Wales, and in certain contexts a Scottish person might call themselves or identify as British.

Anyway, that's a complicated cultural issue, this matter though is a simple political one: The UK is a country, those four aren't. The UK is not the only country with complicated geopolitical situations, and the line has to be drawn somewhere. Whether or not it's internationally recognised as a country seems as goo a place as any.
Maybe a new feature is required, something that would automatically be disabled and if enabled, could show what country and city the members are playing from, based on their current IP address.
By automatically having it disabled, it would be the users choices of showing the city or country they are from. If it ends up inexact or not exactly what a player wants to show, they simply leave it disabled.
Then the next step would be to have the choice to auto sort players by city or country. This again would have to be automatically disabled for lets say, ... privacy concerns.

We could then have a flag displayed beside the chessboard during the time we are playing our game.

A country list could then be created to show which countries are winning the most games.
The UK is a Sovereign State consisting of the Countries of England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.

Most of the people who live in those countries place there national flag above that of the State (UK) or indeed Great Britain (for those not in Ireland.

Each of the COUNTRIES, have independent sports teams in most instances (Olympics and certain golf comps are the main exceptions I can think of)

Lumping us under one flag is just as wrong as it would be if you lumped every European country under the European flag.

I for one am English and proud of it. Flying the flag of St George makes me English not racist. I am sure that sentiment is shared by the Scots, Welsh, and Irish for there national flags.
