rating?

Just out of curiosity, I am now at my highest rating ever and it says that I have dropped twenty something points over that last 12 games. How does that happen?
Your rating doesn't become established until you play a certain number of games. Thus, even though you were higher at an earlier point, it technically didn't count yet. From the time it started counting to the present moment, you must have dropped twenty something points. Hope this helps!

I must not have made myself clear, it happens all the time. I have played enough games to establish a rating. While still not high enough to frighten anyone, my current rating is two points higher than my previous high (all subsequent scores being lower). So when it says that I have lost 23 points that doesn't make sense. x+2=y does that mean y=x-23? I'm just wondering how the direction is calculated. I would have guessed that the direction would be +23, but I have not done the calculation.
