PUZZLE FAILED?

Qxa5 is also very winning, of course.

The puzzle prefers Qxg6 because it wins a lot more material.

Of course, in a real game it wouldn't really matter if you took the +7 or +15 path to victory, but for puzzles like these the goal is to find the most efficient path to victory :)

I do tend to prefer puzzles to have a single unambiguously best solution, but some people like the challenge of finding the most efficient of several winning moves.

Your proposed move is actually 3rd best. Qxg6 is by far the best, also completed the checkmate past 17.h7 (thats where the score is from)

Although these positions are clearly won for white, these puzzles (and some are indeed wrong) demand you find the best move. I think if you are within 1pt of what the best move is, you get a "there is a better move message" (but it should really be increased significantly if the score is over 9 (a queen up) although this puzzle wouldn't qualify for it since there is really a HUGE difference between 1 and 2)
