People love to cheat in Classical :)
Earlier I remember average rating of cheaters was around 1900-2000, they did not go further as they were caught early enough.
Today I see cheaters 2200+. One was even Classical Champion with gold trophy (shame!) for several days, until (finally!) got labeled. Despite it looked really suspicious when he played 10+ games in a row at one day with 3-10 centipawns lost each leaving no chances for opponents 2300+.
Why do cheaters go that far now? Does not the system to caught them work properly anymore?
Totally agree, however cheats are caught i think by reporting them, so if players don't suspect them they can go on cheating. Eventually though they get caught but to the cost of honest players and their ratings.
people should give real name...if a 1300 fide rating play like a grand master on the net, it's obvious cheat!
I have no FIDE rating, so what should I do in this case? Also I do not like to give my real name. I think the problem is rather how fast appropriate action can be done to obvious cheaters, not allowing them to get really high rating.
according to this:
http://en.lichess.org/stat/rating/distribution/classicaltheres maybeclose to 3000 players above 2000 rating, I do wonder how many of those are cheaters.
and for sure there will be many cheaters sub 2000.
Cheaters will be cheaters - because they can. As old as the oldest profession it will continue until the earth blows up :)
But they do serve a purpose- decent people can feel better than them without feeling superior. Thank you cheaters for being scumbags !
only admins know ur real name and if u don't have any rating and play like a gm on line, u are a cheater simply
Not true, maybe you just study chess on your own and don't play tournaments. There's no reason you can't get good at chess playing on your computer only.
Cheating is just rampant everywhere. Much worse on
Chess.com, I think, because more users and more publicity . I dont know who plays chess online, but probably a lot of teens. And they cheat, simple as that. A lot more than adults anyway.
Alex_1987, you've made an interesting point. You have no real rating, you do not want to disclose your real name, but you accuse somebody of cheating. Except you have rating of 2200 which means you play decently strong. And still you might be cheating - not in all games, but on the crucial moves. This is a double edged sword. Everyone should be equal, meaning you either do not play online chess, or confirm your rating and disclose your real name.
So if you accuse somebody, please prove you are not cheating.
